My husband lost his life in an ER where the Doctor and his “Resident” were supposed to order blood ASAP.That never happened;now the hospital/atty put a $number to settle(all this orally,supposedly) to my lawyer-this was a few months ago,with no terms seen in writing.I repeatedly asked for terms,in writing to be sent to me, but he said there were none.In theory anyone would wish to settle,and I had said alright,if there are no terms.My lawyer said,”no”.. then I receive a 5 page “release”(terms!) in the mail which is entirely unreasonable!My lawyer says if I do not sign it he will COMPEL me to sign it by asking the court.This is EXTORTION! What remedy do I have to ask a Judge to stop this nonsense? In addition, the lawyer said medical Residents cannot be held liable for mistakes(Death??)Is this true?

I’m not sure I understand the question. Which lawyer is telling you that you need to sign the paperwork? I’m assuming you’ve hired a wrongful death attorney? What did your attorney say?
