What do I do about a debt collector trying to seek a judgement against me for a debt I do not owe ?

I have a debt collector who is trying to collect a debt from me which is not mine. I have never had an account with the bank listed. He says he purchased the debt. I responded to the magistrate that I would be there, but several people told me that just because the debt isn’t mine doesn’t mean this person will stop harassing me. Advice??
I won’t give him any of my real information including birth date, name etc (the name isn’t exactly correct on the filing). I was told not to.
