I was suspended last year from my teaching job in Albany, NY. I am still waiting for my hearing to determine if I should be fired or not. Recently, I have learned that the school district does not have much of a case, if any. I (obviously) know that the charges are false but I have also been informed that the district has no hard evidence and no witnesses to corroborate the charges.
However, due to the fact that I have been susepnded, many of my colleagues already assume I have been fired (therefore assume I am guilty of the charges). Also, my name has been removed from all district documents, which only adds to the belief that I have been terminated.
Here’s my question - If the district suspended me knowing full well that they didn’t have a case against me (and were just hoping I’d resign and walk away), can I sue them? Thanks.
