Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

I am about to launch a facebook application, and I am looking to protect myself with a privacy policy and terms of service. There are literally thousands of applications that are very similar to mine.
Do I need to get a lawyer and write up a new one, or can I use one of theirs?
How much do I have to change it? Do I at all? Is there a standard one, I can just buy without paying a lawyer by the hour?

You can write up one of your own but you must make sure you cover your basis. I have a website that I run and I have both a term of services and disclaimer on my site. If this is a new product/ service and you plan on making money from your site, it may not be a bad idea to talk to a lawyer. They should be able to write something up fairly quickly. They should be able to give you a flat fee.

You might want to read an eBook I wrote about drafting your own Terms of Service (ToS). Yoy can download it for free at http://www.web20attorney.com
