I work for the state of Tennessee in their motor vehicles department. I have been working there for 10 years and was promoted only once. I recently applied for a supervisor position, but lost out to another worker who had been only there for 2 years. I’m very upset that I did not get the job. To make matters worse, The person that got the supervisor position is white and I am African American.
Is this fair? Am I being discriminated because of my race and maybe even age? I feel I am more qualified than this other employee and deserve the promotion. Does it matter that I work for the state of Tennessee?
