I am currently living in the state of Ohio. About 2 years ago I took out a personal loan from a friend in the state of Texas. I always paid on time and there was never a late charge or anything of that nature. I moved form Texas to Ohio and after a month or so, I was unable to contact the party that loaned me the money. I searched for him but was unable to find a good contact phone number. I have had the same call phone number throughout the entire period. On Monday, the gentleman called me at work here in Ohio and I was delighted that we were in contact once again as I would like to pay the loan back. He stated that the only amount he would accept was $5000.00 and that if I didnt pay it by Friday (4 days later) that he would ask the courts there in Texas to garnish my wages. Is that possible? I am afraid that they will take my paycheck and I am a mother of four. I am unclear on how he would be able to garnish my wages for a personal loan but would like to know what I should do. I am willing to pay it but do not have all of it before tomorrow. Please help!

I let a friend borrow $8,000 3 years ago and he agreed to pay it back. After email and verbal promises I have still failed to receive any payment yet. Is there anyway to recover my money?

Can I sue my ex husband for $12,000 I loaned him last year (while we were married).

I leant my husband $12,000. My divorce lawyer sent him a certified letter demanding payment within next week. to repay the loan or we will proceed with legal actions against him. I am pretty sure my ex will not pay the money. My question is, is a divorce lawyer based in Greenbelt MD the best type of attorney to sue in something like this? Should I hire another type lawyer? I don’t want to hurt my attoney’s feelings.

By the way, the 12,000 I loaned him was from a bank load I took out against my house. Can I sue for this amount and any attorney’s fees?
