Is there a Staue of Limitations after being charged with a crime. I was arrested in Washington state at the age of 18 for carring a loaded shotgun in a vehicle, at the time I was told if I don’t hear from the DA in a month or two they probally aren’t going to persue charges, 3 months later a joined the Military and 3+ years later a get a summons, hired a public defender needless to say it has been 5 years since I have heard anything at all for either of them DA or public defender. The public defender no longer works at that office but they were able to tell me the case is not closed. It’s now been 8 years since the crime. What can I, or should I do?
