Hi,
I live in the state of New Jersey, I’m currently dealing with an ongoing issue that goes back to April 26,2008 when my bathroom ceiling collapsed due to an leaking pipe from the apartment above me. I called the management office who came and stopped the leak but left the bathroom ceiling untouched. Since that time contant debrie and other parts of ceiling constantly falls, mind you the ceiling is open right above the commode. Bugs from all sources of life are entering my apartment due to the ceiling being wide open. Not to mention the smell of old wet wood. Keep in mind I have 2 children that resides with me. On May 19,2008 I make another call to the management office to report leaking inside of the walls, in the kitchen the walls were starting to turn brown. NO one came to check it out. Nevertheless on 6/8/08 the paint started to bubble and now I’m collecting water that’s dripping from the ceiling into a bucket. I called and left an voice message, no one returned my call. I leave for work on 6/9/08 to come home and see that the ceiling has collapsed in an attempt to move my dishes from this nasty water leakage. I guess I didn’t move quick enough. A piece of the ceiling has now fell and caused multiple injuries to my neck and back. I have seen a doctor and my lawyer. Now I believe I may have another case. My son says the smell of the old wood is causing his noise to burn and he’s coughing an whole lot. The building inspectors are coming to my apartment to view the damage, my question is, if he/she detects any mold and my children now have long term affects from being exposed to something chemical. Should I mention this to my lawyer for my issue, or should it be a another case of it’s entirety?
