I am 16 and wanted to know if there was an actual law that says anyone living in my household over the age of 18 is considered my “Legal Guardian”. I basically want to know if my Mother boyfriend, who’s Been With My Mom For About 5-6 years, has the power to kick my friends out or set and enforce rules on me such as when my friends can and can’t be in the house? My mother is the sole owner of the home we are in. I live New York State… A Police Officer said my mother’s boyfriend had power over me and the house, and that he was my “law guardian”. the officer said if my friends didnt leave they would be arrested. Was all of this fact and is there such thing as a Law Guardian? If so what power does he hold on me?
