I am in need of a good real estate lawyer located in Elkton, Maryland. I just purchased a home in a newly developed community just outside the city limits of Elkton, MD. In the last 6 months I’ve had tons of problems getting things fixed including my front yard and cosmetics within my house. The floor boards are already making noise, my hardwood floors are scraped up and the downstairs I’m seeing signs of mold from when the basement flooded prior to my family moving into the house.
I had a huge problem right from the start when I was told the house was going to completed within a certain time frame and they went over almost a month. I had sold my house and thank goodness we put a clause into the contract which would have allowed us to stay up to 1 month prior of selling the house. We got in 2 days prior to us having to leave my old house that was sold. When I approached the builder regarding this they told me that it was up to me to find an apartment or a place to stay until the house was completed and they wouldn’t reimburse me for my expenses. If that is not bad enough, since several responses workers haven’t showed up on time or just plain hadn’t shown up at all. I still have a house which I feel is half complete and would like to know if I should contact a real estate lawyer here in Elkton? What are my rights?

I had s similar problem with a new house in Bel Air, Maryland which isn’t too far from you. I sent faxes, certified letters and even went to the home office to get workers out to fix some of the things that were wrong with my house. I contacted a real estate attorney in Maryland and they drafted up a letter and sent it to the builder. Within a week, I had the company setting up appointments to get the work completed.
My recommendation would be to have a real estate attorney in Elkton draft up a letter that includes each and every problem that has yet to be resolved. I am betting you right now if the lawyer sends this letter you will too be getting calls within the next week. If you know any lawyer you draft up the letter and CC his name to the attorney’s name to the letter and that would also work. In any case, just send a letter with the lawyers letterhead or a CC and you will be surprised how quickly they follow up with you.
