I am a first time buyer of a home ( or will be) and I’ve read I should hire a real estate lawyer. What are the positives and negatives of hiring a lawyer and do I have to in order to close on the house?

I live in Texas and will be purchasing the home in Austin, TX…

Thank you for the answers in advance

You don’t need a lawyer to purchase a home. You however may want him to look over the paper work. When I purchased my first home I didn’t hire an attorney.
