I was involved in a hit and run accident over the weekend in Montgomery Alabama. As I was coming out of the local grocery, I witnessed a black car back into my car and race away. I ran up to my car and the my back bumper was completely off. They hit my car pretty hard. I immediately ran into the grocery store and called the police to report the incident. When the police arrived they took a report but unfortunately by the time I called it in, the car was long gone. They told me that it would be very tough without a positive match or make of the car and without a license plate to positively identify the car. Now I’m facing the unfortunate task of reporting this to my insurance company and now my insurance will probably sky rocket. My question is what are my legal rights?

I don’t think that your car insurance will go up as long as the police report states that you were not driving the car at the time and that it was parked. The problem is that you will have to pay the deductible for any repairs done to your vehicle. Some deductibles are $500 to $1,000.
If you insurance rates do go up, then you might have a beer.
