Does anyone know a really good criminal attorney in the Howard County area? An aquaintance of mine was pulled over for a DWI. It was his second DUI in the state of Maryland. He also has an assault and battery conviction from like 7 years ago. He blew a .08 on the breathylizer and failed the sobriety test. He was pulled over for speeding, he was going 76 in a 65 and his license was suspended I think. He needs a great criminal defense attorney.

Wow, your buddy was driving on a suspended license, speeding, and drunk? I’m thinking this guy should off the road. I live and drive in Maryland and don’t want someone like this driving on the same roads as I do.
Anyway, you can find a good lawyer at the the toolbar above and do a lawyer search for a dwi attorney in Maryland

I know a woman that had a 2nd DWI offense in Maryland. She hired Joe Murtha who I think is out of Ellicott City, MD. He’s always in the papers, and was in the Baltimore sun represented some dude for attempted murder. If I was your buddy I would seek this guy out. It won’t be cheap, but he seems like he specializes in what these offenses are.
There are a ton of criminal lawyer based in Maryland. You should have no problem finding a good lawyer.
I don’t know any dwi attorneys in Maryland but you should make sure that the attorney you are contacting:
1. has experience with handling dwi cases in your friend’s area in Maryland
2. has experience in taking cases to trial as well as pleading out
3. will talk to your friend up front about costs. Most likely some kind of retainer fee will be needed. Since this is your friends 2nd dui, he may be in for some big fees
4. If the attorney guarentees or says he can definitely get your friend off the charges, find someone else. There is nothing for certain in a DWI case
5. Make sure that the dui defense attorney is familiar with both the criminal trial and the Maryland Motor Vehicles trial/hearing.
