I recently bought a car that was a little less than 1 year old from a dealership in Maryland. The steering has been off by a lot. When I took it back to the dealership, they tried to repair the problem. the problem with the steering was not fixed. Is this car a “lemon”? Should I get a refund or something from the dealership? The dealership wants to try the repairs again.

Don’t deal with the dealership. The best thing you can do at this point is hire a lawyer that handles Lemon Law. They of course want to repair the car because its cheaper than trading it in or getting refunded. Do not do this because you will probably always have a problem with your car.

There are lawyers out there that specialize in Lemon Law. Find one that is near you in Maryland and give them a call. Make sure you have all the information available he may need such as make, model, price, repair documents, receipts, license, name of dealership, work orders

From looking at the Maryland state website that handles lemon law, it sounds like you have a lemon. If the car is less than 15 months old and has less than 15,000 miles on it then it falls under the lemon law. Your car is less than 1 year old, just make sure it has less than 15,000 miles on it. Steering and braking only have one opportunity to be repaired, if that does not fix the problem then the car must be refunded or replaced. Other repairs are given 4 attempts of repair. You need to notify the Manfacturer in writing the nature of the car, problem etc. Below is the website I found:
