My brother was arrested in Newark, NJ and I need to find out how much a good criminal lawyer would charge to take his case? I know most attorneys take cases on an hourly rate so exactly how many hours would it take for him to get my brother off these charges? He has never been convicted of a crime in the past so its not like the charges would stem from being on probation or anything like that.

Depending upon the charges really depends upon the cost. If was a fight or DWI / DUI first offense he will probably get a fine and probation. If it was a robbery, sexual assault or felony type of crime he could be facing time. He also doesn’t want to land up in jail in Newark, New Jersey because its not a great place at all. Newark is horrible and the prison there is one of the worst. If you committed a felony make sure you hire a really good lawyer for his sake!

How can we answer this question without more information. Yes most criminal lawyers charge an hourly rate but it depends upon what type of crime was committed. Be more specific.

It depends upon the charges and how much time your brother is looking at. Is the criminal charge a felony or misdemeanor? If its a misdemeanor they will charge less than a felony most of the times. Also the price of an attorney is also directly related to experience and what types of crime they are representing. There are some lawyers that charge and hourly rate while others will charge a flat fee it really depends.
