Dealing with insurance companies are a huge pain but if its minor damages it may not be worth hiring an attorney. Anything under 1K you could probably handle on your own. If you were hurt than that would be a different story. Tell the insurance company you want compensation for being out of work as well as the costs to fixing your car. If they fight it tell them you will contact a personal injury lawyer. They may bend a little more and give you what you are asking.
