Grandfather Law in Will County, IL

We installed an above ground pool in May of 2001. We did obtain a permit; however our installer did not obtain final inspection unbeknownst to us. Today we received a phone call from the Will County Land Use Department indicating that there was never a final inspection. Would we have to obtain a final inspection or would be grandfathered in? FYI, the ordinances were updated in 2008.
