The Fort Lauderdale Police recently stopped me for allegedly running a stop sign. During this stop I was, to my surprise, notified that my drivers license had been suspended since 4/06/2009 for not paying traffic citations. I then discovered that there in fact is a citation against my license in Lakeland, FL (Polk County) against my license. I’m told that the ticket was issued on 1/27/2009 for riding a bicycle at night with no light and was also told that the DL #, address, DOB and all other information — except the first and middle name — did not match mine. I have now missed a weeks worth of work due to this issue and do not know how long it will take to get it resolved as I can not find anyone too eager to help me — unless of course I hire a lawyer and pay thousands of dollars. 1. Do you have any guidance in assisting me with getting this resolved? 2. Is there any legal action I can take against the DMV / State / or authorities that caused this mess?
