While doing my regular walk (3rd pass on the street), 2 dogs came out of the gate as I was passing through the front of their house. One of the dogs (boxer) took a bite at me and then both dogs ran back towards their place. The neighbor (mowing the front lawn) helped me by shooing the dogs back inside their backyard. My friends took me to get treated at the emergency as the dog owners were not home. Afterwards, we got to get info from dog owner that the dog was behind with rabies shot by 3 months at that time. But after quarantine, dog came out normal as per Animal Control.
Dog owner’s are using their insurance company to reimburse me for the emergency treatment. I was able to go to work after the incident even if I had bruises/swelling/soreness on my thigh. Since all these have caused anxities, inconveniences/hazzles to me and that I have to shell out for expenses first as well as the soreness can I file a claim for additional payment? How much more can I claim and how should I do it? Do I need a lawyer or should I just go to small claims court?
