If I’m walking by someones house and their dog gets off the leash and bites me on the sidewalk are they held responsible for the dog bite? If so what type of lawyer handles dog bite cases?

I’m not sure about Delaware dog bite laws, but Maryland dog bite laws are very murky. In Maryland, it can be very hard to successfully sue the owner of a dog who bites if:
1. It was the first bite or attack the dog has done
2. The owners were not totally negligent

If you were walking past a house and a dog got off the leash and you were bitten by the dog, the owner of the dog is held responsible. The attorney you should contact is a personal injury attorney however many of these attorney’s don’t handle dog bite cases because they are tough. So in your searches make sure you fully investigate the firm and find those attorneys in Delaware who specialize both in personal injury related cases but also those cases involving dog bites.
