I had booked some international flights in july 2007 which the travel agent ran my credit card for and somehow charged me for double the tickets i had asked to purchase, i was outside and by the time i actually noticed these charges 3 months had passed , i talked to the bank and they send me some dispute paper work , but since i was travelling i could not get it to them on time! i have been talking to the agent since to settle the claims ,at first she said they have not recived the funds , now she says they ‘picked up’ the funds in march 2008 , and will be returing me the money , but she keeps on avioding my calls and makes excuses… please suggest .. the total sum is over charged is about $4000 and i am in CA..

I am not a lawyer, but I would write the Travel Agent a letter stating the facts, dates, and amounts of the Credit Card Transaction. I would demand the $4,000 that they overcharged you by 1 week after your send the letter. I would tell them that if they do not remit you the $4,000 you will be forced to take legal action. This travel agent is just buying time so they don’t have to pay you. I would contact a lawyer in your area if this doesn’t work.
