I was working on a construction project and was hurt on the job. Would I file this sort of claim through my work or do I file it against the homeowner? So is this a workers compensation issue or personal injury issue?

Construction Accident

Thank you for this answer. I would love to get a lawyer but I’m out of work and can’t afford one. Do they have some sort of lawyers that can handle these cases for free? I know nothing is for free but I’ve heard of some companies that help people that make little money with their legal problems.
What you are talking about is legal aid. Legal aid is a whole different practice area. Construction accidents fall under personal injury. Most personal injury lawyers will take your case on a contingency fee basis which means you only pay them if they are successful in getting you compensation. This means you don’t have to pay these attorneys until they’ve won your case and they only get a percentage of the winnings from the case.
Jason you have been a huge help! Thank you very much for the quick response back! I hope I can get some money out of this because I’m essentially unemployed and I can’t work right now.

If you have been injured in a construction related accident there are multiple entities that could be ultimately responsible for the accident. Those responsible could include the owner of the property, the prime contractor (whom you work for), the company specifically handling the design and engineering of the project or equipment companies (if a piece of equipment failed and it resulted in the injury).
The best thing to do is contact an attorney whom handles construction related accidents. Because of the complexities of these cases its always wise to first seek legal counsel before proceeding.
