We bought our condo in 2002. Within 3 months we got a surprise notice of a special assessment.

Owner had not said anything about it. Our agent contacted seller’s agent who said she informed him of town hall meeting….he never told us.

Amount was for $6,000. Can we take our agent to Small Claims at this point? Was recently told Statute of Limitations was 8 years.

thanks

Camera, small claims

I don’t know exactly why you are making me getting this cord so hard but this is what it has come down to. I will be dropping off the other cord tonight, whether I have to put it on the porch or whatever. If i do not get the other cord, my mom will be filling out a small claims court suite. We cannot use the camera without the charger; its useless. The camera costs $275 new, what we would file for.
I gave you the camera because I trusted you with it. Now it is missing pieces and was used carelessly.

Now that is what my friend emailed to me. She left her camera at my house for a school project, and I do not have transportation to get it back to her (she knew that so she had planned to come pick up the camera). On the day she came to pick up the camera, we told her that it would be in the front hallway of our duplex, and she could walk right in and get it. The doors were unlocked. On that day, she claims to have waited outside and knocked on the door, but she left without her camera. My sister reports never hearing anyone knock. Then I moved about an hour and a half away, thinking she had gotten her camera. Now that I’ve moved back, she had started to harass me about the camera, and I told her I don’t have transportation. She came to my house, and I gave her the camera box my sister had put together for her. It was missing the cord, the manual, and a small flimsy pouch. Once she got home, I had found out those things were not in there, so I began looking through our drawer of cords for it. I gave her the cord I thought was it, but it did not fit when she took it home. I have a lot of cords at my house, but I don’t have the camera to try them in. Her and her mom got the camera for free, and now they are trying to take me to small claims court if I don’t get their camera to them tonight (and I work all night). Can she do this? And she also has a pair of my running shoes that I paid roughly 65 dollars for, that I had asked her to exchange with me. What do I do?

roommates moved out and failed to pay rent

Hello, I have a question. Me and two roommates signed a lease to an apartment in Tampa, FL August of 2009. However, both of the roommates moved out at the end of October. They promised they’d still pay their share of the rent until the lease ended August of 2010. However, one stopped paying in December and the other stopped paying in January. Since then, I have been forced to pay the whole 874 dollar rent each month so I won’t get evicted. The lease will end August 1st, 2010 and they will have cost me about 4,400. All of our names are on the lease and they did not sign the roommate release form (agreeing to get their names off the lease so they wouldn’t be responsible) nor give their keys back. Can I sue them and get my money back? I have copies of all of my checks.

I had a person staying with me. They were addicted to alcohol and drugs and they were in rehab. They stole jewelry and family photographs and alot of posessions of mine. My sister is suppose to provide me with the receipts and pictures of these gifts. She has not come through on giving me the information — she says she doesnt have the receipts or a picture and doesnt know the store she bought these gifts. What do I do? I am in process of trying to go to small claims court.

should I get a lawyer? Sears Auto Center

Hi. My question is on whether or not I should get a lawyer for this matter. I was at Sears Auto center this past Friday because my car wouldn’t start and I picked it up just yesterday after paying $219. This morning it would still not start and I took it to the shop again. The guy who worked on it is telling me that there are a lot of things that need to be fixed underneath the vehicle; the problem is they didn’t check underneath the vehicle on Friday while I was at the shop; all I had been told was that I just needed a tune up work on the car. It’s only when I came to pick up the car the guy showed me underneath and told me some stuff weren’t right, so I asked him if I should get whatever he was talking about fixed: he said he was not going to say anything but he just wanted to show me. Well, he didn’t want to tell me to get anything else fixed, but anyway I was already at the register paying $219 for service that obviously has not been rendered. So today, the manager is telling me that the guy told him that he gave me an estimate of how much I was going to pay to have the car in good shape and I refused to pay because I said it was too expensive. This is absolutely not true! So he told me he is going to call me tomorrow morning after he gets a second opinion and I will have to pay for whatever work that will need to be done and at the most he is going to do is to give me a little discount. I am completely shocked! He told me that they are just technicians not psychics!!! My point here is the car spent Friday night at their shop, I picked it up on Saturday and the following day it still wouldn’t start. I definitely did not expect this to happen, the car has not been fixed. My fear is that tomorrow when he calls me he asks me to pay again whereas the job has not been originally performed. So my question is do you think I can take this to court?
Sorry but I couldn’t make the story shorter; if you need more information please let me know I will be checking on this every hour.
Thanks a lot for your help!!!

I was rear ended by a girl driving her dads car a few weeks ago. No police report was filed. They told me they would pay for my damages. I called my broker anyway (on record). They (girl n dad)turned out to be shady, so I called in a claim to there company. They sent a ins. adjuster to estimate damages. I was quoted 1000 to 1100. The adjustor said 650. I was waiting for a check n nothing. Call there company..He said I hit him. I have damage to my bumper and they have damage to front end. I have pics of both cars (not the day of accident though-she lives around corner from me. I have my broker on record – day of accident, there ins. info, a accident report (I filled out later)n pics of both cars (clear she hit me). I want to take them to small claims..do I have a case? Do I name him (its his car n regs.)in the suit?

I was granted a no contact protective order against an abusive ex-boyfriend by a Maryland court. A few weeks later he filed a bogus small claims case against me. He has told mutual friends that he wants to see me again and I am terrified by the thought of facing him in court. Is this case filing a violation of the “no contact” language in the order? Can he continue to drag me into court by filing subsequent claims?

If I was occupying a commercial building and paying rent but was verbally told that I would not get a lease, then locked out with personal cash and possessions in the building. How can I file a suit with no money. It’s been 6 months and the landlord sold the possessions.
