I had a person staying with me. They were addicted to alcohol and drugs and they were in rehab. They stole jewelry and family photographs and alot of posessions of mine. My sister is suppose to provide me with the receipts and pictures of these gifts. She has not come through on giving me the information — she says she doesnt have the receipts or a picture and doesnt know the store she bought these gifts. What do I do? I am in process of trying to go to small claims court.

should I get a lawyer? Sears Auto Center

Hi. My question is on whether or not I should get a lawyer for this matter. I was at Sears Auto center this past Friday because my car wouldn’t start and I picked it up just yesterday after paying $219. This morning it would still not start and I took it to the shop again. The guy who worked on it is telling me that there are a lot of things that need to be fixed underneath the vehicle; the problem is they didn’t check underneath the vehicle on Friday while I was at the shop; all I had been told was that I just needed a tune up work on the car. It’s only when I came to pick up the car the guy showed me underneath and told me some stuff weren’t right, so I asked him if I should get whatever he was talking about fixed: he said he was not going to say anything but he just wanted to show me. Well, he didn’t want to tell me to get anything else fixed, but anyway I was already at the register paying $219 for service that obviously has not been rendered. So today, the manager is telling me that the guy told him that he gave me an estimate of how much I was going to pay to have the car in good shape and I refused to pay because I said it was too expensive. This is absolutely not true! So he told me he is going to call me tomorrow morning after he gets a second opinion and I will have to pay for whatever work that will need to be done and at the most he is going to do is to give me a little discount. I am completely shocked! He told me that they are just technicians not psychics!!! My point here is the car spent Friday night at their shop, I picked it up on Saturday and the following day it still wouldn’t start. I definitely did not expect this to happen, the car has not been fixed. My fear is that tomorrow when he calls me he asks me to pay again whereas the job has not been originally performed. So my question is do you think I can take this to court?
Sorry but I couldn’t make the story shorter; if you need more information please let me know I will be checking on this every hour.
Thanks a lot for your help!!!

I was rear ended by a girl driving her dads car a few weeks ago. No police report was filed. They told me they would pay for my damages. I called my broker anyway (on record). They (girl n dad)turned out to be shady, so I called in a claim to there company. They sent a ins. adjuster to estimate damages. I was quoted 1000 to 1100. The adjustor said 650. I was waiting for a check n nothing. Call there company..He said I hit him. I have damage to my bumper and they have damage to front end. I have pics of both cars (not the day of accident though-she lives around corner from me. I have my broker on record – day of accident, there ins. info, a accident report (I filled out later)n pics of both cars (clear she hit me). I want to take them to small claims..do I have a case? Do I name him (its his car n regs.)in the suit?

I was granted a no contact protective order against an abusive ex-boyfriend by a Maryland court. A few weeks later he filed a bogus small claims case against me. He has told mutual friends that he wants to see me again and I am terrified by the thought of facing him in court. Is this case filing a violation of the “no contact” language in the order? Can he continue to drag me into court by filing subsequent claims?

got an apartment with my bestfriend and i saved up quite a bit of money and paid for everything but she promise she will pay me back. all she paid for was half of rent and nothing else. we had hyrdo and cable bills plus our own cellphone bills and food.. we got in a bit of a mess and i moved out forcing her to move out as well. again she promises me that she’ll pay me back the 3 grand she owes me. I asked if she could put it in writing and she refuses.
I have all the receipts and bills from everything, Can i take her to small claims court?

A person who I thought of as a friend, called me on a Friday and told me she was having surgery on Monday. Needed me to come and care for her family and eventually her when she got home from the hospital. She told me she would pay for my ticket and also pay me when she got her settlement in August. She quoted me $20/hour for 24 hours a day for 7 days. I did it and haven’t seen any money. Now she is posting comments about me on a popular site saying I stole from her, etc. Can I get my money owed me?

My mom gave my sister her credit card to charge $800 for christmas for her and the kids. Her boyfriend took the card and charged over $6,000 on the card. Can we pursue him legally??? He made all charges online, so we don’t have proof it wasn’t my mom. This occurred two years ago and my mom is still attempting to pay off the debt and file a small claims suit against him.

I had a friend come and move in with me. the agreement was she would pay me $75 a week (that is how she got paid) for her share of the rent. We also made a verbal agreement that I would put her on my cell phone plan and she would pay the cost of what her line cost each month. she stayed with her boyfriend for a week straight and then sent me a text telling me she could pay me this week and that she was moving out and would be back to get her stuff. Now here is my question. she owed me money from a car payment that i made for her prior to moving her in as well as 2 weeks of missed rent the week she stayed with her boyfriend and a week prior to that. she also only paid one month of her cell bill out of 4 months that she had it. Her furniture has been in my house for the past 3 months and she has not come back to get it. I told her that she owes me the money from therent the cell bill and the car payment. since it was just a verbal agreement do i have the right to take her to court and sue her for the money that she owes me? also do i have the right to charge her for storage of her stuff since she has not yet removed it? if not am I legally allowed to sell her stuff since she has not made contact with me since the week after she moved out and what ever is left over after i sell her stuff she would still owe. not sure what to do but i want to make sure i do it right cause we are talking over $400 she owes me without charging her for storage.

my friend and i made a verbal agreement that i’d house and care for her dog for 1 month and she’d pay me 50 a week and she has paid me only 50. now she wants the dog back and doesn’t want to pay me the rest. i think i shouldn’t let her take the dog till remaining portion she owes is paid or until i file suit in small claims court. would i be wrong in keep ing the dog till then?
