I walking into a tattoo shop. I notices a binder that the business owner made. The title of it is PROOF OF ALIENS and in parenthesis say NOT THE MEXICAN KIND. I am Mexican and that offended me, CAN I SUE?
I am presently an employee at a large retailer in North Carolina. The company has, like most, a set of rules and regulations, or in this case ‘guidelines’ as they are called. I have transgressed one of these guidelines, and am being threatened with possible termination.
I have information that some of my co-workers have also transgressed one or more of the same ‘guidelines’, but have seen no discipline whatsoever. In one case, a co-worker has been guilty of activity deemed prosecutable, but still continues employment.
If I am terminated, do I have precedent to stand on in view of these other employees’ freedom from punishment?
I’m in the Aveda institute for cosmetology and I’m five months pregnant … The school is causing me … Alot of difficulty completing my curriculum and moving forward… My school is based on hours … I have missed a few days … Due to some family personal issues …. Now they are trying to make me repeat my course … When I approached them … With withdrawing to transfer to another school with my completed hours they told me I can’t until I pay them in full …my tuition is 17000 dollars , I have been in school for 33% of the time and they are saying I owe them 13000 dollars…. And they will keep the first disbursement from my loan which leaves me owing them 8400 out of pocket …. That doesn’t make sense to me at all . Also when I asked them if I could change my schedule days from Thursday Friday Saturday to Monday Tuesday Wednesday ….due to the busy environment and the uncomfortableness of my pregnancy .. They told me no… I need so much advice and help please if any one can help .
I live in a condo.I invited a friend to spend the weekend with me (African American). One afternoon we went to swimming pool.On our way as we passed by the other condos a person was shouting racial remarks from his condo lanai but we could not see exactly which condo. As he continued I remarked back “are you on medications”continued on our way to pool.At the pool we were talking with a older couple about the wildlife all around us.Suddenly a man appeared at a distance in a rage shouting and screaming comments that were difficult to make sense.I tried to to ignore the man and comforted my friend while many people watched and listened.Suddenly a police officer arrived.Walked up to the man .The man pointed at us with no discussion the officer marched to the pool entered and stood next to the pool and demanded that I get out of the pool.As I started to exit the pool in his direction I was asking “Whats the problem” Now in a rage he repeated angrily to get out and would not answer my questions as I got closer. Then his demeanor changed and said,”Oh I just want to ask you some questions. As I got to the edge and began to lift myself out he suddenly grabbed me.However being wet he began to lose his grip and balance and was falling towards the water.I was of course right below him I caught him and pushed him back to his feet.I got out and thinking he must be glad that I saved him from falling in.As I stood there waiting for him to respond he says “I am going to tase you!I told him that I am wet and please don’t.He fired anyways while there were children right behind me.I am disabled with a back injury and the taser caused me to flip around and around rolling towards the water. Finally the taser stopped and I sat down on a chair behind in disbelief.after a few minutes he came over removed the taser and cuffed me .As he was cuffing me I ask why he did what he had done. He said the man who is the v.p. of the board said we were trespassing.I told him that untrue I live here.He panicked and began to rush around doing something.I was taken to the front of the condos an ambulance was there and he sat me down on a gurney. As i sat there I watched as the police argued with the ambulance guys as to who get possession of me.One of the residents shouted That man is on medication! So the ambulance guys took me But before they took me as I sat in the position the officer placed me another officer arrived out of nowhere and came to me Shouting for me to lie down on the gurney at the loudest voice possible his face becoming very red.I thought what is this officer so angry and why was he commanding me to lie back when the first officer never told me to do so and saw that I was still sitting up but it wasn’t a issue. The officer who arrived after the fact acted as though I was not cooperating creating a drama in the presence of many people. As the ambulance guys took me away I was listening to their conversation about the behavior of these officers and were amazed.I was amazed.went to hospital then to jail house bailed out very quickly compared to the others. Some days later I received news that the prosecuting attorney refused to take this to court and was thrown out or dismissed.I never learned what the results were about the false report the officers behavior etc.My religious understanding is Christians should not sue people so i arrange to meet with v.p.discuss the matter and that I would not pursue legal action. To my surprise He confesses that he new i was not trespassing and wasn’t expecting officer to do the things he did .Would like professional help on understanding many questions.Took place in 08. thanks Michael.
My property manager is making us move because my downstairs neighbor complains about how my children make too much noise in the daytime. Our neighbor has even threatened us and they are still trying to make us move. Prior to moving here they would never return our calls or emails. Not to mention they rented the original apartment we were suppose to move into.
Discrimination is a part of everyday life and in a personal aspect it is unavoidable. However, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 helps to eliminate it as much as possible in the workplace. Discrimination against Race, Gender, and Religion is against the law and Title VII enforces protecting workers from discrimination.
What The Government Is Doing
Our government has set forth laws that forbid employers from basing their hiring decisions on a person’s characteristics. Such laws include the Equal Pay Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, and Civil Rights Act. This also applies to how an employee is treated versus co-workers of different characteristics. There are also varying state and county laws that further protect employees and job applicants from discrimination.
How To Know You Are Being Discriminated Against
Many people overlook or do not even notice when there is discrimination in the workplace. Some examples of this situation include:
• You make less in pay or receive less in benefits as someone who is of a different gender, race, or religion. If your job titles are different then this may not be discriminatory. If you do the same amount of work and have the same position as the person receiving more than you, then this would be discrimination.
• If you are fired from a position for no valid reason. If you were fired even though you have performed all job duties correctly and in a timely manner, this would be a violation of your rights. The same is true if you have shown a higher level of performance than co-workers who are of a different race, gender, or religion.
• If an employer asks an employee of a different gender to perform sexual favors in order to keep or further their position in the company.
• Another employee is being favored for bonuses, promotions, etc. although you perform as well or better than they do.
• The company is providing benefits at different levels for the same job position but different employee characteristics.
• Your employer or co-workers have expressed how they feel about a certain characteristic, and have used these feelings as a basis for hiring and promoting employees in the company.
Although there are many laws prohibiting any type of discrimination in the workplace, it is still happening on a daily basis. There are many laws that are lowering the occurrence of this situation and employers as well as employees should know the rights and regulations of workplace practices.

I was recently terminated from a federal job for poor attendance. The reason that I was out from work was due to complications stemming from pregnancy. I received a letter which stated that I was being removed from my position while out on maternity leave. I contacted my Union, who in turn set up meeting with the boss for me. During the meeting he did not even look at any of my medical documentaition which sholud have clearly kept me my job. On top of that during the meeting he did not really discuss my absences during my pregnancy which is what the termination letter has on it. Instead, he went all the back to 2007 which had nothing to do with this situation and far less absences. I know of several people recently whose work record are seriously worse than mine (not due to pregnancy)who they tried to terminate that were given thier jobs back. While on the other hand, I have been told that I can’t have my job back. So, my question is should I file an EEOC?
I”ve been active on a discussion forum with a Canadian name. THere have been things published against Muslims and I have reported it to the moderators, and they say Muslims are not a race, and in their rules section it says they don’t tolerate racism. For instance with the recent case in China, one guys “China did everyone a favor, the guy wasn’t British, he was Muslim. He was a terrorist. “China did us all a favor. Later on they say, “they don’t care about Muslims that’s why they have them guantamanoe.” So the moderator gave me this answer:”Discrimination based on race specifically where a person feels a person is superior to another based on race is racism. Calling a drug trafficker a terrorist is NOT an example of racism. Furthering that, Muslim isn’t a race. It’s a religion. Please report posts appropriately or leave the reporting to someone else. Thank you for your attention to this matter. – Maude”
Can I sue them? I have also seen other posts about Muslims and have complained and they’ve given me the same answer.
HOw much can I expect to sue them for? It’s from one of the biggest 3 cities in Canada.
Once I posted something that was not positive about Jews, and it was taken down instantly…

my name is nicole i am from a small town and i am a freshman in high school i have a boyfriend and we previously got into trouble with pda (public display of affection). but what happened was we couldn’t be near each other for months then we set up a meeting with the dean and the bus garage and my bus driver asked if we were planing to date again and we said no because at this time we were not going to date then. so this lasted a little while then we sat next to each other again but about a month later they viewed the tapes and saw him kissing me on the cheek and gave me a hug a normal friend hug at this time we were dating but also i had a family crises and was upset and talking about wanting to die so he tried cheering me up so he got taken off the bus and ever since he was on the bus in the first place she checked the camera numerous times and when she checked the camera she didn’t say anything to the kids who were eating candie on the bus who could choke and die if the bus simply went over a bump and she didn’t say anything about the kids gaming on there lap tops when we weren’t supposed to have laptops or the people on there cell phones which could distract the driver if it simply rang she didn’t say anything to them but she kicked him off because he gave me a kiss on the cheek and a hug to make me feel better. now is this discrimination or is this me just overreating? and is a kiss on the cheek and a hug P.D.A? this is really important to me and i really want to know!
