my mom just found out a medical company is sueing her for medical bills that where paid by medicaid billed 5 years ago, and now few days ago, they started garnishing her wages and froze her bank accounts leaving her with no money to pay for any of her other bills and she only gets paid maybe 400 every 2 weeks, can they legally do this after 5 years of not a word or letter or bill saying she has bills to be paid,or saying medicaid paid them 5 years ago and then sueing her 5 years later?

Hello;

Recently I recived a suit from a company I have never heard of here in Georgia regarding a computer from Gateway I purchased in 1999. I remember paying for the computer but do not have paperwork from that time. I have not been getting phone calls or letters regarding it, just this notice for small claims court. the amount being asked is approximately 3500. The claim has 2 lines on it stating Gateway 1999 and the amount with a charge off date of 2003. They gave me an answer form at the court when I picked up the suit (civil action). What should I do now? What rights do I have? Can they come after me and garnish my wages?

I have a judgment against me for $2,500.00.
The creditor filed for garnishment.
I make only $75.00 dollars per week after taxes.
The form I have states for Ohio I must make over $219.00 or the 25% over this amount.
25% of $75.00 turns out to be $18.75.
I make $144.00 less of 219.00 per week.
Can they legally take $18.75 of this small amount as I am destitute and this is all I make and have hardship;can this be legal?
Would I have to make so much above the $219.00 to be legal to garnish wages?
I thank you for this answer for Ohio law.
Sincerely,

Tony B.

I am divorced and my ex was responsible for a car that he purchased for his daughter that he has quit paying on now and it’s being repossessed. We are in Colorado and I am wondering what the repercussions are when they find the car and sell it and come after both of us (we are both on the loan) for the balance. My ex is active duty military – would they garnish both him and myself for the balance and if I’m not working will they come after my spouse and garnish his wages as well?

I live in Ohio and have recently had a judgement against me for a credit card debt. I’m currently getting the finances to file a bankruptcy but may not make it before the garnishment starts. I am self employeed and have been informed by a legal counsel that the court will order garnishment of my checking acct.. How much by law can they take. I was told as much as they want. That they could literally take everything I have in my account. Is this correct? I need to prepare some how if it is.
