I had a court order wage garnishment put on me when i worked for a company owned by a us person. i have since changed jobs recently and i was wondering if this garnishment is still in place? the company that i work for now is a foreign owned company and my payroll comes from another country outside of the US. I was living in Louisiana when I filed for divorce and the court order is from Louisiana. I currently live in Texas.

Power Cut-off

I, as everyone, am dealing with hard times. My electric bill was past due and when I called the electric company to get an extention until my next pay day I was denied and told my power would be cut off at anytime. It could be a day or it could be by the end of the week. After explaining that I have 2 small children and I need my electric, I am not trying to get out of the bill, just needed an extra week to pay it, I was still told no. I live in the state of Florida and have heard from several people that it’s illegal to do so since I have kids, but is that hear-say or truth? I’m not trying to get out of payment, obviously I can’t live without electric, I just needed and extra week to be able to pay and because I was denied I have no electric.

Ex is self-employed and recieves understated non employee compensation from his fiance.

My ex lives with his fiance and they each have corporations, but it’s the same business. She is the President of the “Consulting” company and he is the President of his company which is a contracting company where he is the contractor. The fiance’s company, which is really their company, pays him as an independent contractor, non employee compensation. Now, all she has to do is pay him minimum wage so he can claim as little as possible on his tax return and therefore, cheat me on child support. And since they live together and all income to “her” company is used for the “household” and to live on, he can make all the money but only be compensated for a small portion by her consulting company. My question is, how do I expose this understated income when I go to modify child support? He did this the last time he modified and I got very little. For instance, they brought in at least 200k, but his tax return only showed about 25k. Which is interesting when his total on the monthly expense form he filled out was $4,500. And what about when they get married? How does it work when the new spouse is the employer of the person who owes support so can manipulate the numbers?

Debt collection during deployment.

I am deploying in two weeks and was just notified of a debt turned over to collections. How do I stop the collection agency from putting this on my credit report while I am gone?

The original debt was supposed to be paid for by my veteran benefits but while in processing (the school was aware of) it was turned over to collections. I am still waiting for the payment to process but am deploying this month.

I have placed security freezes on each of the credit agency accounts and have sent a certified letter to the original debtor evoking my rights under the Civil Service Members Relief Act in order to stay the proceedings of collections. I have let the credit agency know of this and I just don’t want this to hit my credit unfairly while I am gone.
