I was arrested as a juvenile when I was 15 years old. I am now 23 years old and I have not been in trouble with the law (except for two minor traffic violations recently) since then. I’m looking for a job and I’m trying to get my own apartment now. In both cases, a criminal background check is necessary. I’m worried that something from such a long time ago when I was still a juvenile might damage my reputation and even cost me a potential job and/or apartment. Can you give me some insight? What can I expect and what can I do? The offense was committed in the state of California. Thank you.

Should I respond Yes to a conviction of crime or offense?

I was arrested for shoplifting a little over a year ago. The Arraignment Charges where based on 155.25 165.40

The Case Disposition:

Pled Guilty & Sentence Imposed

Conditional Discharge=1Y

I found out I cannot expunge the record and it is sealed. I asked if I could apply for a Certificate of Relief from Disabilities and they said no. How should I answer the question. I am afraid of losing my RE license. Please help!!

I plead no contest to a domestic violence charge in 2007. I was advised to waive my right to a trial, and that after six months of probation and an anger management class, my record would be cleared. I recently obtained employment with a security company, and on my application, I chose ‘no’ to a criminal history. After a month of work, I was approached and told that something had come back on my record in the city in which I had the charge. Was I correct in choosing ‘no’ to a criminal history? Am I now obligated to tell them about the charge? Can they terminate me for dishonesty?

I was arrested some years ago for DUI and made some sort of plea where I did not admit guilt. I’m not sure exactly how this was recorded, so I am interested in getting a copy of my criminal record sheet. However, the New York State criminal record state site says you have to send a copy of your fingerprint in to get your record. Knowing New York State, they will store this fingerprint in their database if it isn’t already there. Is there any way to get a look at my rap sheet without sending in a fingerprint?

I was wondering if a lawyer would hire a paralegal that has a felony charge on the record?

I was watching some kids in my home for some friends back in 2007 while they work, so I would be able to stay home with my children and still earn a little income for the household. Then it finally went to court in April 2009 and I plea guilty and got 3 months to house arrest and 2 years probation. So yes I am still on probation for this. The charge is called (RUN DAYCARE WITHOUT LICENSE (PRINCIPAL)) This is Class H!! Also I’ve never got into any trouble in my life this is the first and only thing on my record!!

My dream is to be a paralegal! I know you can be certified but what I’m wondering is would a firm hire me? So would any of you
