Hi!
Recently, I came back from a vacation in Mexico where at Immigration back into the US, I was stopped. I went to speak with the designated officer and he found that I had a warrant out for my arrest from Maryland (I live in NY now and just moved back from LA; haven’t lived in MD for about 4-5 years). The warrant was for a failure to appear in court for writing a bad check to a Jiffy Lube. While I was let go, I still need to resolve this issue so as not to deal with this constantly. Shortly after writing the bad check, I moved to LA, so I never received the notice to show to court. Excuses aside, I know I need to correct this, and am curious how I can do so without “posting $1500 bail”, etc. as I was just told. Is there a statue of limitations on something like this? Can I contact the Jiffy Lube directly and pay this debt as well as whatever interest or whatever has accrued and avoid going to the Sheriff’s office in this county (that is 6 hours away) - again something that they said that I would need to turn myself in, post $1500 bail and wait for another court date. Is there another way to resolve this? I didn’t intend for this and would like to get it resolved as soon as possible.
Let me know.
Thanks!

There is a lawyer’s website I saw and it looked like he specialized in this type of warrant/bail work. Richard Arnold out of greenbelt, MD. I would look him up and give him a call..
