I was arrested for a DWI over the weekend in North Little Rock, Arkansas to be more specific. As I was leaving the bar a police office awaiting for me to get into my car. I got into the car and turned on the ignition and right before I pulled out the police car had pulled in and blocked my car. I was tested and apparently was over the “legal limit to operate my motor vehicle” as I was told. Since this was my second offense for drinking under the influence I was kept longer than a day. In fact it was about 10 days before I was released. I need to know because I actually didn’t pull out of the parking lot, can they actually charge me for a DWI in Arkansas? I now will have the burden of finding a lawyer that handles these cases as my old attorney has retired. So any recommendations for a dwi attorney in North Little Rock would also be much appreciated.

Here are the laws for your second offense for a DWI in Arkansas: 7 days to a year in jail OR no less than 30 days community service and a fine of no less than $400 or more than $3000.00, plus court costs associated to your offense. So the reason why you were jailed for 7 days for the DWI is because these are the laws within your state. In most states, if you get behind the wheel with the ignition is on, and you are over the legal limit / intoxicated, you will be charged with a DWI or DUI depending upon the state. My recommendation to finding a good DWI lawyer would be to contact the local bar association and find those attorneys that represent 2nd offense dwi’s. You should have learned your lesson after the first dwi.
