I have been falsely accused of stealing an iPod by my friend (former) in Eagan Minnesota. I think my friend just lost the iPod, but he is trying to blame me for it. He ended up calling the police and now an Eagan detective called me and wants to interview me about it. There is no proof I have the stolen property. I never stole it! Can I be arrested if their is no evidence and it is my word against the accuser? I have never been committed of a crime before and have a clean criminal record.

I would just be honest with the police officer. Do not be deceptive, and meet with him right away. This will help him believe that your in fact innocent of this ipod theft. I would also tell the detective that you think your former friend might be doing this out of spite and is resentful that your friendship broke up. Most likely the detective will not press any theft charges. It’s not like this is grand theft auto in a little town like Eagan. How much was the iPod worth? $40?
