I received a ticket for ‘failing to reduce speed’ because i rear-ended some one. When the cop gave me the ticket she told me the ticket would be dropped if the other person doesn’t show up, which i know she wont. is this true?

I had a traffic lawyer tell me one time “I never say never”. I would not take this police officer’s advice as gospel. I would contest that you were not speeding. There will be no witness to counteract that in front of the judge. so I would think you have a good chance, but I would not bet my mortgage on it.
How severe is the ticket for “failure to reduce speed”. What state are you in?
